We know you’ve probably heard of this makeup technique, if you’ve ever seen stars like Kim K and her sisters, you’ve seen it in action. But for people who don’t have a professional make up artist to do their make up everyday, is it achievable? We think so! We’ve gathered up some tips and picture to show you how to achieve the contoured look, whether you’re going natural or more chiseled, we can help you!
Our first tip? Watch it in action, there are so many amazing makeup artists with youtube channels who go into depth on how to find and create your contour, as well as their favorite products. A lot are high end, but you can find some awesome tools and products at your local drug store. We suggest the beauty youtuber, Jaclyn Hill, or Casey Holmes. Both are great but Casey helps out her drugstore shoppers more frequently! (We’ll leave the links below)
this photo by smashbox is helpful, take a cool toned (more ashy or grey) bronzer where it say “deep” and a warm more golden toned bronzer where it says “terracotta”. You’ll contour anywhere you’d want a shadow, under your cheek bones to make them prominent, on your forehead to make it look smaller, down the sides of the nose to make it look smaller or straighter. Highlight where the sun naturally hits your face and what you want to look fuller and more supple, under your eyes in a large triangle and blend smoothly, down the bridge of your nose, between your brows, on your chin.
If you don’t know where the hollow of your cheek is (where to contour) line a brush going leaning horizontally from the top of your ear, and roll it down until you feel the hollow, this is where you’ll place the brush. You want the contour to be darker in the hollow, right by your ear and become more gradient. Don’t drag this contour farther than the apply of your cheek to keep a natural look!
